Short Theater by We Art Produced, curated, and directed exclusively by We Art Foundation, in strategic partnership with Centro Cultural Español (CCEMiami) and Microtheater Miami.
Program Overview
Short Theater by We Art presents an innovative, site-specific performing arts experience that reimagines short-form theater in Miami. Moving away from confined spaces, we have scaled up the format: attendees purchase a single ticket to enjoy a unified spectacle designed for audiences of 100 people or more. Staged in extraordinary, expansive locations—such as museums, large art galleries, and iconic cultural venues—the event features three short plays intertwined by a shared narrative, where one story connects with another through common threads.
Large-Scale Spatial Integration (Site-Specific)
Every location is meticulously selected to accommodate a large audience without losing the magic of immersion. These premium spaces become living stages where artists experiment with atmosphere and spatial storytelling on a grand scale. By presenting three distinct works united by a cohesive thread, the format creates a dynamic, expansive encounter between performers, the environment, and a large community of spectators.
Interconnected Dramaturgy & Emerging Voices
The program elevates short-form dramaturgy through rigorous curation focused on narrative cohesion. The selected pieces are not isolated stories; they dialogue with one another, sharing themes or continuities that explore identity, migration, resilience, and contemporary life in Miami-Dade. Both emerging and established playwrights participate, their works united under a single directorial vision.
Collaborative Artistic Ecosystem
Each spectacular evening integrates artists across disciplines to support a production of this magnitude:
Actors
Playwrights & directors
Musicians & sound designers
Stage managers & technical collaborators
Visual artists & space designers (adapting to the scale of the venue)
Accessibility & Cultural Decentralization
A core mission of Short Theater by We Art is to decentralize cultural access by bringing large-format events to specialized spaces where theater is not typically presented. Accessible ticketing and institutional partnerships reduce geographic and economic barriers, turning museums and galleries into the cultural heartbeat of the city for a night.
Community Reflection & Audience Exchange
Each event concludes with an open dialogue between the artists and the 100+ attendees. These conversations allow us to unpack the common threads of the stories, offer a glimpse into the artistic process, and amplify community voices, creating a deeper sense of connection.
